Rokenbok Engineering Kits Available

Through funding by the Chicago Section of the Institue of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE),  we are pleased to have nine Rokenbok Education Engineering Kits available for patrons to checkout, or for classroom use.

These kits are hands-on technology that encourages kids to engineer devices as simple as a hand tool and as complex as programmable robotics. The kits will be part of the Library's circulating collection, and will be available for checkout as single kits for home use, or as a unit for program use and curriculum support in libraries and classrooms.

To find the kits, click the following:

ROK Blocks, Snap Stack and Basic Robotics.

The kits the Library has are as follows:  ROK Block (PreK to Grades 3) - Mentored Construction Play and STEM Fundamentals, Snap Stack (Grades 4 through 6) - Design and Engineering CAD and 3D Printing, and Basic Robotics (Grades 4 through 6) - Introduction to Robotics Motorized Mechanisms.

Each kit comes with a complete curriculum including teacher lesson plan, student workbook, conveniently on a CD.  Kits can be checked out for two weeks.  We ask that you please count the pieces, using the laminated sheet that is included in each kit, and put pieces away based on that sheet, before returning item.
