Wipe the Slate Clean with Food for Fines

Food for Fines is a program that helps area food pantries replenish their shelves and eliminate your library overdue fines at the same time. Beginning on Tuesday, November 12th, and concluding on Saturday, November 23rd, the Library will accept food donations towards payment of overdue fines. Each food item eliminates $1.00 in library fines and you can donate up to 25 items or $25 dollars worth per library card. The program only applies to overdue fines, not fines from lost and/or damaged material.

Some suggested food items include cereal, canned fruits and/or vegetables, soups, rice, peanut butter, Jell-O, pasta mixes, pudding and tuna. Because of food safety concerns, donated food must be in their original, unopened packaging. Homemade items, perishable items, outdated items, damaged items and/or items in glass containers are not accepted.

Don't have overdue fines but would like to donate? Feel free to bring your donations to the Library! Other libraries participating in Food for Fines are: Graves-Hume Public Library, Peru Public Library, Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library, Putnam County Public Library District, Princeton Public Library, Oglesby Public Library, and Jacobs Library.  The LaSalle Public Library is located at 305 Marquette, LaSalle. If you have questions, please call the Library at 815-223-2341.
