Enlightening and Inspiring Generations with Generations of Ideas

A Universe of Stories - Summer 2019

Welcome to the LaSalle Public Library's 2019 Summer Program!  For kids and families, it is seven weeks of information, entertainment, and fun, as Library programming and materials expand our personal universes.

Celebrating 50 years of the Apollo 11 Man on the Moon, the theme, incorporates a diverse selection of activities...from story-times for the very young to hands-on STEM/STEAM activities for elementary, middle school and teen youth. Other programs connect with the world of stories -- from that of King Arthur to your own story written in the stars.  The programming encourages family participation - from Parent and Child together (PACT) activities to specialty family movies, a BioBlitz, and a technology-focused field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry.  We hope that your family will be able to join us in the fun!

The program runs from Saturday, June 15th through Wednesday, July 31st.  Prizes will be handed-out between Thursday, August 1st and Saturday, August 10th.

How the Program Works

The seven week program is free and open to the public.  Residents in all communites are welcome to participate in the program...you don't need a library card to take part in the fun!

Program Booklet:  When you sign up, you will receive a Program Booklet.  The booklet lists all of the programs and/or events that are happening at the Library for the summer program.   All of the programs are free and open to the public.  Children who are 8 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult while at the Library.  Most of the programs do require registration and have limited participation; please register promptly if you are interested.  As a courtesy for our program presenters and/or facilitators, please allow time to park and use the restroom before the program time.  Programs will begin promptly at the designated time.

Activiy Log:  Complete these fun weekly activities and earn a sticker and a prize!

Family Book Club:  A great way to encourage the importance and pleasure of reading is by sharing a story with the entire family.  Choose a "mystery book" - staff selected and wrapped from the fire truck.  Read it as a family then return it and choose another. In addition to a shared experience, the Family Book Club encourages parents and children to try something new,
