Enlightening and Inspiring Generations with Generations of Ideas

Wow! Physics! Interactive Exhibits from Fermi Lab!

Event Date:
Jun 28 2018 - 9:00am

Direct from Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, between Wednesday, June 27th and Monday, July 2nd, the Library will host five interactive physic exhibits with fun scientific challenges that demonstrate the concepts of momentum and acceleration.

Anyone can try their hand at the Lilac Accelerator! This accelerator uses a system of five accelerators to accelerate protons to very high energies. Using a small model of Lilac Accelerator, try to figure out how to make the five separate systems work together to move the “particle” down the extent of the accelerator.

When a ball is dropped it will fall to the ground, right? But does the weight of the ball change how fast it falls? or does the rate of the ball falling increase as the distance increases? Find out for yourself with the “ Gravity Accelerator! It’s noisy but it’s fun!
