Youth Summer Program

For kids and families, the eight weeks are filled with fun programming, much of it centered around Illinois' 200th Birthday Bicentennial!  In addition to reading and our room-sized board game, we'll have crafts, science, puzzles, Legos, and interactive activities that will change throught the summer.  Program runs Monday, June 4th through Saturday, July 28th.

Summer Reading Rewards!

It's always fun to read.  Its a great way to imagine and explore.  This summer read, or be read to, at least 15 minutes each day...this includes listening to audio books - a great way to pass the time on road trips! Once completed, turn in the booklet, between August 1st and August 10th, and receive your Summer Reading Award!

Family Reading Mystery Books

Want to try reading something new this summer?  Then choose a "mystery" books!  Parents and caregivers can choose a "mystery" book (wrapped so you won't know which one you've chosen!) off the fire truck, read it, return it and choose another! Always popular, this fun activity encourages children to branch out and try something new and inspires family read-alouds - an important model that encourages a lifelong love of reading!

Play the Game!

Your booklet will come with a separate colored square.  On it, you'll find your game starting number.  Find that number on the Library's life-size game board...this is where you start!  Every time you check out a book from the Library, you'll be able to one die and move ahead the number of spaces that match the die you rolled.  Just follow the instructions on the game board! It's that easy!  When you finish your turn on the game board, write down, in your booklet, the space number, so you know where to start when you come back!   This is a just-for-fun activity! See how far you go this summer!
