Free Tax Assistance @ the Library

Beginning on Tuesday, February 13th and continuing on every Tuesday until April 10th, the Library will be offering free tax assistance by experienced AARP representatives who will be available, by appointment, to assist low and middle income families and senior citizens with filing their tax returns. 

It is by apppointment only. Please call the Library at 815-223-2341 to reserve your slot.  Remember to arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time in order to fill out paperwork. Time slots begin at 9:30 a.m. with the last appointment at 2:30 p.m. Time slots are "first come, first serve basis," so reserve now! 

Please bring with you the following items: 2016 tax paperwork, photo I.D, all income for 2017 taxes, Social Security Card for everyone on tax return, and Proof of Insurance for under 65.  If you are a senior, you can use your Medicare Card.  If you are a Power of Attorney for someone, bring POA paperwork.  Lastly, if you are filing jointly, both must be present at appointment.
