Friends Refurbish Library Fire Truck

As part of the youth summer program, one of the new surprises at the LaSalle Public Library is a fine mini fire engine. No longer wanted by another library, the little truck received new tires donated and installed by Library friends at King Tire. Christy Donohue, Library friend and booster, fashioned a new seat cushion and new lettering, identifying the truck as LaSalle's own, Dylan Ward, Store Manager at Sherwin-Williams in Peru provided custom-matched paint---who knew there were a dozen shades of "fire engine red"? Another Library friend, Erwin White, has been touching up paint, buffing lights and in general, making the little truck look like new. The youth program, "BIG Summer at the LaSalle Public Library" kicks off on June 1st.

Photographs of the newly restored mini fire engine can be found on our Facebook page or stop in to see it!
