The Christmas Ship Concert

Event Date:
Dec 1 2015 - 6:00pm

Join us on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. when folk musician and balladeer, Lee Murdock, performs “The Christmas Ship,” a holiday concert. The centerpiece of the concert, Lee’s song, “The Christmas Ship,” commemorates the turn of the century tradition of ship captains transporting Christmas trees to sell in Great Lakes port cities. “The Christmas Ship” is the true story of one such ship, the Rouse Simmons.

Lee Murdock has uncovered a boundless body
of timeless music and stories about the Great Lakes -- songs made of hard work, hard living, ships that go down and ships that come in. The music, filled with drama and inspiration, is grounded in the work song tradition, from the rugged days of lumberjacks and wooden sailing schooners
