Enlightening and Inspiring Generations with Generations of Ideas

Tail Waggers with Julie and Ruby

Event Date:
Jul 16 2015 - 4:00pm

You’re invited to join in stories with the Library’s “Tail-Waggers Club”

The LaSalle Public Library is very fortunate! We host six dog teams and many young readers!  The Tail-Waggers Club program performs an important service in literacy acquisition.  Because the dogs are not judgmental, kids gain confidence in reading aloud, even if they stumble over an occasional word, or need time to figure out words and sentences.  These experiences serve to create a positive connection both between children and books, and children and the library – two foundations that will serve the children well, as they move ahead in their education.  These same positive benefits make Tail-Waggers Club valuable to pre-readers, and popular with competent readers, too.  Kids can either bring a favorite short book with or select a short book from our collection to read aloud.

The current summer schedule for mid-June through the end of July is

June 16th at 4:00 p.m, June 18th at 4:00 p.m, June 25th at 4:00 p.m, July 2nd at 4:00 p.m, July 9th at 4:00 p.m, July 14th at 6:00 p.m,  July 16th at 4:00 p.m.

On July 7th at 6:00 p.m, the Library is holding a "Birthday Bash" for Yogi, one of our Reading Dogs.  For this special event, registration is required. Refreshments will be served. Registration ends July 3rd.  Please register at the Children's Room Desk.
