The LaSalle Public Library invites applications as a mentor for Project Next Generation (PNG). PNG is a program created by the Illinois Secretary of State, Jesse White to encourage and empower youth through technology and interpersonal skills. This is a temporary, grant funded position. Mentor—Project Next Generation
$10.00 per hour; no benefits package
This is a temporary, grant funded position averaging 8 to 10 hours per week for 8 to 10 weeks.
Project Next Generation (PNG) is a state-sponsored mentoring program for at-risk youth. Project mentors assist 6th to 8th grade students in developing technical and life skills including digital literacy using computers, digital cameras, and other up-to-date equipment.
Enthusiasm for and experience working with youth ages (10 to 13).
Knowledge and experience working with computers and the Internet.
Familiarity with web-based learning.
Satisfactory criminal background check.
High school diploma or GED.
